1. Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratan Award
• The Old name of this award is Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratana Award.
• This award was started in 1991-92.

• The first woman to receive this award :-Karnam Malleswari (1995).
2. Dhyan Chand award
• Dhyan Chand award is the highest award given for lifetime achievement in the field of sports.
• This award was started in the year 2002.
• The winner of this award is given a statue of Dhyan Chand, a certificate, ceremonial dress and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
3. Arjuna Award
• This award was started in 1961.
• Under this award, a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh is given.
• It is given on the basis of the performance of the players in the last 4 years.
4. Dronacharya Award
• This award was started in 1985.
• Under this award, the prize money is Rs. 15 lakh and a statue of Dronacharya is given.
5. Olympic Games
• The ancient Olympic were played in the Greek city of Olympia in 776 BC. For the first time these games were played in honour of the Greek god Zeus. After that, due to the orders of the Roman king Theodosius, the organization of the games was stopped.
• The modern Olympic Games competition started in 1896 in Athens, Greece, with the efforts of Pierre de Coubardin of France. it is organized every 4 years.
• The International Olympic Committee was established in 1894 at a place called Menschhon. Its headquarters is in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Commonwealth Games
➡ The biggest sporting event in the world after the Olympics. These games are usually organized between two Olympic Games, which is called the Olympic Year.➡ The Commonwealth Games started in 1930 in Hamilton (Canada).
➡ India first participated in the 1934 London Games.
➡ The next Commonwealth Games will be held in Melbourne, Australia in 2026.
➡ The first gold medal India won at the 1st Commonwealth Games was in 1958. This gold was won by the great sprinter Milkha Singh.
➡ Rupa Unnikrishnan became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
➡ India has won a total of 61 medals in the Commonwealth Games 2022. This includes 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze medals.
